Film work
Shot in 2016 in the suburban streets of Perth, Western Australia, and Mountainside, New Jersey, USA, ISO is a series of ongoing exploratory film works created at night using the experimentally high ISO settings found in contemporary digital cinema cameras. In the darkness, the digital sensor’s efforts to make sense of what is not perceivable results in speckles of color, grain, and ghosts of what may or may not be there. Allowing the camera to interpret the shadows of unknown spaces references the concepts of surveillance, security, fear, and isolationism often associated with the suburbs.
